Garen Yessayan, Founder and Creative Director of U Los Angeles

Garen Yessayan is a second-generation jeweler born in Los Angeles, where his passion for craftsmanship was ignited at an early age. Raised in a family steeped in the high jewelry tradition, he spent his childhood summers in his father’s workshop, learning every aspect of the trade—from manufacturing to design—with hands-on experience that shaped his approach to business and creativity.

After earning his GIA degree in California, Garen launched U Los Angeles, a contemporary fine jewelry brand built around the idea of self-expression. The brand’s signature U-shape and bold use of colorful gemstones reflect both his design philosophy and the dynamic spirit of LA, where laid-back luxury meets vibrant energy.

Garen’s vision for U Los Angeles is simple: to create versatile, meaningful jewelry that speaks to individuality. With collections that range from accessible gold staples to high-end diamond pieces, the brand celebrates the idea that jewelry should be as unique as the person wearing it.

Inspired by both his Armenian roots and his LA upbringing, Garen is driven by a deep appreciation for quality, heritage, and purpose. He’s grateful to his family, especially his father, uncle, and brother, for instilling in him the values and skills that continue to guide him today.
